About this CEU Training
This foundational training is designed to help mental health professionals build competence and confidence in working with couples. Participants will explore the core dynamics that shape couple relationships, including attachment patterns, communication breakdowns, conflict cycles, and emotional disconnection. While models such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Gottman Method will be referenced, this training is not a model-specific workshop but rather an introduction to working effectively with two clients simultaneously within a relational system.
Key areas of focus will include managing triangulation, navigating differing narratives, balancing empathy and neutrality, fostering connection and safety with both partners, and developing strategies for de-escalating conflict. Participants will learn how to identify relational strengths, promote repair after ruptures, and help couples cultivate mutual understanding and shared meaning.
Through interactive discussions, case examples, and skills-based exercises, attendees will gain practical tools for fostering empathy, facilitating repair, and promoting emotional safety within couples. The training will also highlight ethical considerations, cultural responsiveness, and the importance of therapist self-awareness when working within complex relational dynamics.
